There Should Be Blood: a witty and poignant story of dealing with the big C (Talk & Book Signing)
06 Oct 2025 | 05:00 PM
The year is 2020 and the pandemic is raging. Simultaneously, one man discovers ‘things aren’t quite right’ which leads eventually to the diagnosis of a rare form of blood cancer. Not something that anyone wants to hear and especially when the country is trying to work out how to deal with fear and the increasing dire fallout from Covid.
Fifty percent of us will either be diagnosed with some form of cancer or know close relatives who are, and how we deal with this fact of living is becoming increasingly significant. In this talk, Tim Richardson draws on his latest book ‘There Should Be Blood’ to recount the events – often hilarious – that shaped his own sudden life changing experience. It’s also a story of finding hope amidst uncertainty. Of finding what it means to be human with all the frailty that comes with life.
Tim will weave together medical and psychological insights from his real life experiences in his own uniquely warm and humorous style, hosted in the Oldest Surviving Surgical Operating Theatre in Europe!
